Spotlight Learning Series: Update on the Beacon Communities
Program Description

The Spotlight Learning Series is a series of classes designed to provide stakeholders with an in-depth examination of specific initiatives or issues in HIT. The Beacon Communities are focused on specific measurable improvement goals according to the needs and priorities of each community. Some communities are focused on improving management of chronic conditions through the collection, analysis and sharing of clinical data. The Beacon Community grant program is providing funding for 17 communities that have already made progress in developing secure, private, and accurate systems of EHRs and HIE to build and strengthen their health IT infrastructure and exchange capabilities to improve quality, care coordination, and slow the growth of healthcare costs. This series will provide in-depth case studies of the Beacon Community grantees.
