The Spotlight Learning Series is a series of classes designed to provide stakeholders with an in-depth examination of specific initiatives or issues in HIT. This semester, NeHC will convene three different Spotlight Learning series on engaging and timely topics. NeHC's Spotlight Learning Series: Consumer Engagement in Health IT will feature representatives from selected organizations to discuss how they are taking strong steps to engage consumers. Panelists in this series will discuss their view on the benefits of engaging consumers, their history, key challenges, success stories, and their view on the future of consumer engagement.

Description: Advance medical directives are written statements in which you provide instructions about the kind of medical treatments you would want or not want under particular conditions, and/or in which you choose someone to make medical treatment decisions for you if you become unable to make or communicate those decisions for yourself. Scott Brown, President of myDirectives.com, will discuss the challenges the country faces in regards to end-of-life medical treatment and how medical directives are a strong step in putting people in charge of their own healthcare.
