COURSE DESCRIPTION:

David C. Kibbe, MD MBA, Senior Advisor for the American Academy of Family Physicians and Principal at The Kibbe Group LLC, will give a high-level overview of DirectTrust.org and the conceptual framework that guides this effort to help assure privacy, security, and trust related to Direct exchange, part of the Nationwide Health Information Network, or NwHIN. Dr. Kibbe will also provide a background of the Direct exchange technology and its primary use cases, and elaborate on governance and the workgroups associated with DirectTrust.org. Finally, Dr. Kibbe will examine technical issues that specifically surround the management of digital certificates for authentication and encryption for Direct exchange messages and attachments.
