COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Health privacy expert Deven McGraw joins NeHC discuss the latest developments in health IT (HIT) privacy and patient data protection. McGraw provides an overview of her work with the Health Privacy Project at CDT, as well as her role on the HIT Policy Committee’s Privacy and Security Tiger Team to set the tone for a discussion of what’s new in health data security and what’s on the horizon. She also covers the proposed changes to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule, new rules related to patient data access, and how providers, payers and health information exchange organizations are navigating the waters of patient consent.
