COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Goal IV of the ONC Federal Health Information Technology Strategic Plan is to “Empower Individuals with Health IT to Improve their Health and the Health Care System.” In pursuit of that goal, Lygeia Ricciardi is spearheading the ONC effort to reach consumers and engage them around the tools and resources available to them through HIT. In this program, Lygeia discusses ONC’s consumer engagement campaign as well as her work with the Consumer Consortium on eHealth and how it will impact and accelerate the use of HIT throughout the US.
