COURSE DESCRIPTION: On June 19, NeHC University will continue its in-depth look at innovative health information exchanges (HIEs) with a case study on Group Health. Dr. Gwendolyn B. O'Keefe, Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Group Health, will give a presentation on the organization's HIE strategies and challenges it has had to address in standing up their HIE. She will also explain their unique consumer-based governance structure and how this structure allows patients to play a more active role in their healthcare.

Additionally, Dr. O'Keefe will give insight into how Group Health and Washington State are addressing difficult issues such as privacy and security and determining the ideal connectivity strategy for Group Health's stakeholders.
