Program Description

Health IT Orientation is a comprehensive introduction to health information technology (HIT) in under two hours! The HIT Orientation program will provide students with an introduction to government initiatives and a high-level view of the current HIT landscape in the U.S. This class is designed for stakeholders who are new to the HIT field, new to NeHC University, or just need a refresher on some of the HIT basics.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  
In a complex industry like health IT, it is good to be able to step back and take a high-level look at how we got here, what we’re doing, and where we are going. To do so, Gwenn Darlinger, Manager of Physician Interface Implementations at Quest Diagnostics will present her highly-rated Health IT Orientation for NeHC University on Thursday, April 11 from 12-1:30PM ET. Health IT Orientation will provide attendees with an introduction to government initiatives and a high-level view of the current HIT landscape in the U.S from the vision of HITECH to the recently-released Meaningful Use Stage 3 recommendations. Additionally, Gwenn will give overviews and insights into key issues facing the industry such as consumer engagement, health information exchange, and interoperability. After the presentation, Gwenn will take questions from the audience and give her thoughts on the future of the health IT industry.
