COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Spring 2011 semester will close with a revisiting of the value proposition for all ONC health information exchange initiatives related to the Nationwide Health Information Network. Faculty will discuss the national strategy for health information exchange, including how Direct and Exchange fit within the strategy to benefit all participants. This class will also provide profiles of different HIEs and health systems using the Nationwide Health Information Exchange.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
By participating in this class, students will: learn about the multiple ONC initiatives surrounding health information exchange, understand how each initiative works together to create value for patients and providers, and see how Health Information Exchange (HIE) organizations are using Direct and Exchange in their communities
